Medicine Pioneers  Part 1/2

Nov 2022

by Dr. Caroline Buff "Medizin Pioniere"
Podcast - LINK

Episode 91 - Part 1:  Miriam has managed to combine her two passions, medicine and music, and also to start her own company Sound and Health. But not only that! Before that, she built up her career as a musician by performing on stage for example with Udo Jürgens for a 12.000 people audience. Medically, she was drawn to neuroimmunology and pain therapy until she began her further training as a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy, but did not finish it. She began to deal more and more with her own roots and complemented this with numerous continuing education courses. For example, she trained in complementary medicine, mind-body medicine, sound therapy and meditation but also in the field of Global Health. Until she founded her company in 2019 and continues to pursue many interests and activities in parallel.

The 1st part is mainly about her path. Miriam takes us very much into her process and tells not only how but also why she decided something."

INTEGRATIVE  SOUND  MEDICINE

DR. MIRIAM BURGER

SOUNDS OF CONSCIOUSNESS

Since 2019 Dr. Miriam Burger has performed "Sound Art" in the form of sound immersions, sound journeys, ancient instrumental soundscapes, and Sound Bath Meditations, combined with recorded music and colorful synaesthetic experiences. Her instruments include the Ancient Gong, Tibetan Bowls, Crystal Bowls, planetary tuned metals, and more.

Her sound art, sound baths, sound journeys have an experiential character. The experience conveys a consciousness-expanding feel.

In a soothingly experiential and deeply consciousness-expanding performance, the listener is bathed in a broad range of frequencies that are assumed to entrain the human brain in recreative, meditative brain waves. The brain then may enter deep states of coherence and creative inspiration.

Dr. Miriam Burger performs sound immersions in diverse spaces: in parks, urban places, meditation studios, nature, landscapes. She performs in Zurich, Vienna, London & in virtual settings.

Bio.

Dr. Miriam Burger is a Sound Artist, Violinist, and Medical Doctor. The creative arts, particularly music and sound, have accompanied her for the last 30 years. Her Sound Art is based on long-term experience with sound immersions, ancient instruments, orchestras, solo- and band projects during the last >20 years, as well as field research in Europe, USA and SE-Asia.
After 11 years of professional training as a violinist, Miriam discovered experimental, pop and rock performance, and improvisational music which emerged from this 10 year period. A decade of pop-rock and gypsy cabaret music followed. She worked as a freelance violinist in various formations on stage & studio and wrote violin arrangements / co-compositions for pop-rock music (Hallelujah, Cardiac Move, Helena Hallberg, Phil Ryan a.o.). Today she works as a violin substitute for the 21st Century Orchestra at KKL Lucerne and the Pepe Lienhard Orchestra. Besides her medical training and playing the violin, Miriam also pursued high-performance coaching (psychology/neuroscience/music), film projects (short films, commercials), worked with directors and composers (EU, USA).  She performs sound art, sound baths, sound journeys of experiential and consciousness-expanding character.
